Sanitize A Restroom

Sanitize restrooms daily.

Restroom facilities are found in most retail establishments, office buildings and similar areas. To keep the restrooms up to par, you want to sanitize in a way that keeps the restroom clean, presentable and free of bacteria. Restrooms require daily cleaning, as bacteria can build up up quickly. Use a cleaning and disinfecting agent that not only kills germs but also removes debris and odor quickly.

Instructions

1. Sprinkle 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup white vinegar into each toilet bowl. Alternately, pour in a toilet bowl cleaner. Let sit for 15 minutes while you clean the rest of the bathroom, then scrub with a toilet bowl brush and flush the toilets.

2. Wipe down sink fixtures, door handles and toilet handles with disinfectant wipes. Wipe down toilet seats as well, and discard the wipes after cleaning each seat.

3. Fill a spray bottle with 2 cups water and 1 cup white vinegar, mist over sinks, paper towel dispensers, stall doors and similar surfaces. Wipe off with a damp cleaning rag. Alternatively, spray a commercial all-purpose bathroom cleaning spray onto these surfaces and wipe off with a damp cleaning rag.

4. Empty the trash cans every day.

5. Mop the bathroom floor last. Fill a bucket with the recommended portion of water and bathroom floor cleaner, or mix 1 gallon water with 1 cup white vinegar. Dip your mop into the mixture and wring out the mop. Start at one corner of the restroom and work your way backward toward the restroom exit door. This prevents footprints from forming as the floor dries. Remember to clean the entire floor, including around sinks and toilet bowls. Let the restroom floor air dry, and if this is a high traffic area that will be in use, remember to use caution signs letting patrons know the floor is wet.
