Redo A Toddler'S Bedroom

Redecorate your toddler's space.

Once an infant enters the toddler stage, the bedroom will need an overhaul. Unlike a baby, a toddler is much more aware of his surroundings. Toddlers have definite likes and dislikes that you can use when choosing colors and designs for walls, carpeting and bedding. The room will require some new furniture items, extra safety precautions and maybe even an extra play space.

Instructions

1. Paint the room in a color that interests your child. Take him with you to the paint or home improvement store. Invite him to look through paint swatches with you and pick his top three. Choose one of his top picks.

2. Choose a soft carpet or area rug. Toddlers are constantly on the move, playing, jumping and rolling. You will need some type of soft floor space to support his motion-filled games and activities. Consider plush wall-to-wall carpeting for a durable, smooth option.

3. Select either a toddler or twin-size bed, a dresser and storage for playthings. Plastic bins and shelving units make excellent and movable storage options. Look for colorful hues that coordinate with the rest of the room's decor.

4. Add decorative touches in practical places such as your toddler's bedding or a cute table lamp. Consider a bold print or a favorite character style such as Winnie-the-Pooh, Dora the Explorer or Barney. Easily replaceable items such as bedding make the prefect vehicle for a favorite character phase that may quickly pass.

5. Hang an age-appropriate poster or picture in a frame. Examples include cartoon drawings of animals, family photos, letters of the alphabet or rainbow colors.
