Decorate A Boy'S Small Bedroom

The boy in your life needs a room to call his own. Even if his room is on the small side, you can still create a space that is uniquely his and will serve his needs as well as be a place he will love to hang out in. Create a boy's room that is big on personality even if it isn't big on space by using furniture that has added storage and by making use of vertical space.

Instructions

1. Limit the furniture. Move the dresser into the closet, or use a closet system and get rid of the dresser entirely. Put the bed against a wall. Most boys love to have floor space to play on, so this will free up some room for your son to play.

2. Choose a bed that has built-in drawers, or buy rolling drawers to put under the bed. You can store clothing or other items in them, and it will save you space.

3. Let light in. Boys don't like fussy window treatments anyway, and letting light in the room will make it seem bigger. Use plain wooden blinds or a roll-up shade to decorate the windows.

4. Hang shelves on the walls. Boys love to collect things, and shelves are a great way to display baseballs, action figures and other collectibles. Hanging shelves also take up much less room than a bookshelf, and the shelves will draw the eye upward, creating the illusion of space.

5. Choose a few bright accents. To make the boy's room feel larger, keep colors and patterns simple, and use bright colors or vibrant patterns as accent pieces only. For example, paint the walls a warm neutral gray, and accent with plaid throw pillows and a rag rug.
