Regrout Bathroom Tile With No Space

Consider regrouting your bathroom tile instead of hiring a professional.

If the grout in your bathroom has turned an unsightly shade of yellow, you may want to do something about it. Don't be discouraged if you have little or no space in your bathroom. Grouting tools are slim and you should be able to reach all areas. Applying fresh grout makes your bathroom look updated, clean and remodeled.

Instructions

1. Remove the old grout with your awl. Place the awl against the grout and scrape it away. Awls are small and sharp and work well in bathrooms with little space.

2. Remove any broken tiles by placing your awl behind them and gently popping the tile from the wall. Replace the tile according to the manufacturer's instructions. Allow the tile to set before continuing onto the next step.

3. Clean the empty grout joints with a damp sponge and mild detergent. Rinse the area with a sponge and only water, or turn on your shower and move the shower head around to clean the empty grouted areas.

4. Place your grout onto a foam grout sponge and spread over the entire tiled area. You will need to continually replace the grout on the sponge to ensure you have enough grout for all the tiles. Work the grout into the empty joints with the sponge.

5. Once the grout has set slightly, wipe away any excess on the tiles with a wet cloth. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for allowing the grout to set.

6. Once the grout has set completely and is hard, wipe the powdery residue from the tiles with a dry clean, cloth.

7. Caulk around the tub and shower stall with your caulking gun. Allow the caulking to dry overnight to ensure it properly adheres to the tiles.
