Hang Bedroom Cabinets

If you are looking to add storage to a bedroom, a good solution might be to add hanging cabinets. The hanging cabinets gets the items to be stored off the floor, which can give your bedroom some much-needed floor space. Hanging cabinets in your bedroom is an extremely simple process that anyone with a few tools should be able to do.

Instructions

1. Determine where in the bedroom the cabinet will be placed. Find a wall stud near this location with the stud finder. The next wall stud should be 16 inches away from the first in either direction. Mark both wall stud locations. This is where the cabinet will be screwed into the studs.

2. Measure the height of your cabinet and your wall to determine how high you want the bottom of the cabinet to be. Mark that height on the wall, aligned with the studs

3. Attach a piece of 1-by-3 into the wall at the wall studs--using wood screws--so that the top of the 1-by-3 is at the mark for the bottom of the cabinet. Make sure this piece is level and tightly attached to the wall. This will provide a straight ledge to place your cabinet on while you are hanging it.

4. Place your cabinet on top of the 1-by-3 and screw it into place through the back of the cabinet and into the wall studs. You should use two screws on top and bottom for a total of four screws per wall stud.

5. Remove the 1-by-3 from the wall. Fill and paint over any leftover holes.
