Party Decoration Ideas For Center Pieces

Flowers needn't be the only materials used in centerpieces.

Selecting a venue, sending out invitations and choosing a menu--these are just some of the things that go into planning a party. Choosing decor for the party area is another important part of the planning process, as it adds visual interest to the event. Table centerpieces make a statement and add elegance and ambiance to the space.

Lemons and Flowers

Create a fresh look for your tables with a centerpiece that incorporates lemons. Place whole and sliced lemons inside a vase filled with water. To keep the look simple, add an arrangement of various white flowers--daisies, lilies and roses--to the vase. If you would prefer to bring more color into the space, make an arrangement with various colored flowers that complement the yellow lemons--red Gerber daises, green mums or purple irises.

Crystal Stemware

Crystal stemware isn't just for serving drinks; it can also create an eye-catching centerpiece for a table. Haphazardly arrange crystal stemware in different heights in the center of a table. Cover the bottom of the glasses with glass beads in different or the same colors. Fill the glasses with water and float a candle in each one. Scatter flower petals around the base of the glasses as a final touch.

Pails of Candy

This playful centerpiece is not only colorful, it will also satisfy your guests' sweet tooth. Fill pails with various types of small candies--Starlight mints, MM's, Skittles and gumballs, for example. Various types of lollipops inserted into the pails add height and even more temptation to the decoration.

Fishbowls

Bring life to your tables with this centerpiece that incorporates live fish. Any type of glass vessel can be used--bowls or pitchers--as the container for the centerpiece. Cover the bottom of the vessel of choice with glass beads or gravel and fill it with water. Place a fish in each container. Beta fish are a good choice, as they are colorful; but only put one in each centerpiece, as they will fight with one another. To add even more interest to the decoration, add flowers with long stalks--such as irises or daises.

Tray of Candles

Add a soft glow to your party area with a plethora of candles. Set a serving tray or platter in the center of your table. Cover the dish with tea lights and pillar candles in different heights. Surround the base of the candles with colored pebbles.
