Become Organized In Your Bedroom

Organization and cleanliness are the essentials for a comfortable bedroom.

The bedroom is a place to feel comfortable, but clutter and poor furniture arrangement can make it a chaotic and stressful area. Even large closets can hold just so much, and poor arrangement of clothing can make the situation much worse. Storage items such as drawer dividers and plastic bins can help you organize a bedroom, and all are relatively inexpensive.

Instructions

1. Fold and place your underwear and socks in the top drawer of your dresser, where they are within reach. The lower drawers can be designated for T-shirts, lounge wear and sweaters.

2. Remove clutter from your nightstand. Store books and other nonessentials in the nightstand drawer, and place the basics on top of the stand. A table lamp, alarm clock and reading glasses are the essentials that should be kept on top of the nightstand.

3. Use drawer dividers in your dresser to separate and organize your belongings. Drawer dividers are available at many home stores. Choose plastic dividers over wood dividers, as wood can snag clothing.

4. Store out-of-season clothing or additional bedding in plastic bins that can be placed underneath the bed. The space under the bed is perfect for moving items out of sight without taking up space in your closet.

5. Organize the clothes in your closet by season. Clothes that are out of season should be moved to the back of the closet or to the side farthest from the current season. If you are fortunate enough to have a spare bedroom, move your out-of-season clothes to the closet in that room.

6. Place dirty clothes in the hamper immediately after disrobing to keep your bedroom uncluttered. Place the hamper in the closet to move it out of sight.

7. Hang a shoe tree on the back of your closet door, or place your shoes on a rack inside your closet to keep them organized.

8. Store your jewelry in an appropriate box, placing delicate items in cloth containers. Plastic storage containers with several compartments are suitable, as they can keep your rings, necklaces and earrings organized and untangled.
