Plumb Bathroom Sink

Plumbing a bathroom sink

Plumbing a bathroom sink yourself is a smart economical move given the hourly cost of hiring a plumber. You'll save the most money by plumbing your bathroom sink with PVC pipe, which is considerably less than stainless steel of brass plumbing kits. As of June 2010, a PVC bathroom drain kit costs about $5.98.

Instructions

1. Install the sink drain in the pre-cut hole of the bowl. Set a small layer of plumber's putty between the pre-cut hole and the drain, tightening the locking nut on the bottom of the drain. Once the drain is in place, remove any excess plumber's putty from the basin of your bowl.

2. Insert sink tailpieces (or extension tube) into the bottom of the drain, tightening the slip nut. You may have to trim the tailpiece or extension tube depending upon the height from the wall drain to the bathroom sink.

3. Insert the tailpiece (or extension tube) into the P-trap, tightening the slip nut.

4. Set the P-trap into the wall drain and thread the slip nut from the P-trap onto the threads of the wall drain.

5. Turn on your faucet and check for any leaks.
