Bringing in color using paint, furniture and accessories will create an inviting and attractive bedroom space for twin boys. Pale blue paint mixed with rich chocolate colors make for a cozy and warm room. As the boys grow, they can change out accessories and build onto the existing palette.
Instructions
1. Create a bug-themed room with a painted mural. Paint two different murals on facing walls for the twins so they can each have their own special artwork. For the ceiling and remaining wall, use a pale blue color, resembling the sky, to tie the room together. Green and blue paint colors work nicely for this theme and serve as a neutral backdrop for painting brightly colored flowers on the walls and butterflies and bugs on the ceiling.
2. Install carpet squares over existing carpet or on hardwood floors for added color. Carpet squares in various shades of green are soft as well as durable, ideal for a boy's room.
3. Place linens in blue and chocolate colors for a warm and inviting sleeping place. Use a striped design pattern for one of the boys and a gingham or checkered pattern for the other. Install chocolate-colored window treatments to harmonize with the pale blue color and create a cozy feel.
4. Paint the twins' names or initials in calligraphy above their beds. Calligraphy can range from modern block letters to elegant scripts and adds an attractive design element to any child's bedroom.
5. Hang up artwork and photographs in bright frames. Install paper lanterns floating near the ceiling to create cheerful focal points around the room. Toy boxes in blues and purples placed against the wall add extra seating, as well as handy storage. Place a pillow or pad on top and you have a makeshift bench.
6. Use ribbons to create your own simple mobiles. Each twin can have his own colors, such as purple, green and yellow for one mobile, and blue, white and orange for the other. Get a 12-inch embroidery hoop and line the hoop with double-sided tape. Drape ribbons in varying lengths over the hoop, pressing against the tape to secure them. Hang the ribbon mobiles from the ceiling over the twins' beds.
