Decorate A 9by9 Foot Dining Room

Round tables allow more people to be seated and take up less space.

Many people today have hectic lifestyles, and dining rooms are often only used for special occasions or when homeowners have guests. Decorating the dining room area so that it exudes a relaxing ambiance is not complicated. Dining rooms that are small, such as a 9-by-9 foot room, make it difficult to create a serene area with an uncluttered appearance. You can visually enlarge the space in the room by using the correct color combinations, furniture and wall decor.

Instructions

1. Purchase a round dining room table for your 9-by-9 foot dining room. Round tables take up less space and allow more room to seat guests. If you already own a square or rectangular table, remove the leaves unless you have guests. This creates a space that is simpler to maneuver around when passing through the room or for smaller groups.

2. Buy armless dining chairs. They they take up less space in a small room.

3. Use minimal knick-knacks and other decor in the small dining room area. Clutter tends to minimize the size of a room.

4. Paint the walls with white or monochromatic colors that match the rest of the decor in the dining room. This visually enlarges the space. If you want to use two or three different colors in the room, use shades that are the same intensity, such as medium blue and medium green colors.

5. Hang a decorative mirror on one wall, instead of using a framed picture. Mirrors bounce light and visually enlarge the look of the dining room.

6. Position a centerpiece on the table that is correct for the size. One that is too large will seem to overwhelm the space.
