Design A Tropical Bedroom

Imagine palm trees and vibrant flowers, warm tropical breezes and relaxing the day away your very own private oasis. You don't have to hop on an airplane to be immersed in this soothing and peaceful atmosphere. Create your own tropical paradise with a tropical bedroom design.

Instructions

1. Determine a color palate. Use soothing neutrals like khaki and tawny sand colors mixed with warm and inviting earth tones such as rich greens and cozy browns.

2. Choose your main tropical theme. Decide if you want to decorate using a design based on palm trees, sandy beaches or seashells. Don't be limited by these choices--use your imagination.

3. Paint the walls. Keep it neutral in tone and color. This will make it easier for you to match curtains, bedding and accessories.

4. Choose furniture. If you are working with your existing furniture, consider refurbishing your dresser and bed frame in a rich, deep mahogany that is reminiscent of the abundant teakwood of the tropics.

5. Buy accessories. Keep in line with the main tropical theme. If palm trees are your thing, purchase a few lamps and picture frames with a palm tree or palm leaf design.

6. Hang curtains. Sheers are a must because they are light and billowy. If you want more privacy, layer a heavier curtain in front of the sheers.
