Decorate An Indian Bedroom

If you want to transform your bedroom into a vibrant, exotic style, Indian colors and patterns will give your room a completely new look and feel. Indian decorating styles contain rich, jewel tone colors and warm wood materials, so whether you want to add a subtle touch or embrace it fully, there's a variety of things you can do in your space.

Instructions

1. Choose a muted shade of a jewel tone color for the walls. Indian decorating features a variety of colors, such as ruby, emerald, deep blue, purple, gold and orange. If you want to add a subtle touch to the room, paint the walls in a cream or sand shade and use the jewel tone colors as an accent color for the molding.

2. Incorporate Indian-inspired patterns into the room through textiles. Choose window treatments with patterns such as paisley, swirling floral or geometric shapes. Add jewel colored pillows to the bed that contain shimmering beading or sequins and patterns embroidered with gold string.

3. Install a dark hardwood floor in the room if it's in the budget. If not, look for Indian-inspired patterns in rugs and use that to cover the existing flooring.

4. Look for ornately carved bed frames, dressers or chairs in a dark wood to place in the room. Incorporate wood accessories such as carvings or room ornaments into the space to complement the furniture.

5. Finish off the room by adding decor that is indicative of Indian culture. Silver candlesticks or trinkets, carved wooden elephants, Hindu religious relics and artwork can be used to complete the style.
