Check the Balance on My NetSpend Prepaid Card
Online shopping makes it possible to browse among a seemingly endless range of items, whereas your selection in a physical store might be limited. Generally speaking, however, you must have a bank-issued credit or debit card to shop online. If you lack the credit score to obtain a card from a bank, however, you can purchase a debit card and reload it yourself using cash. If you make your online purchases using a NetSpend prepaid online spending card, checking your balance available for purchases is easy.
Instructions
1. Register your NetSpend account online if you have not already done so. There are three methods by which you can check your balance -- online, automated phone system and live agent phone call -- but the latter two will charge you a fee, which is 50 cents per inquiry as of January 2011. Point your browser to the NetSpend website and enter your 16-digit card number, as well as the three-digit CVV number, located on the back of the card. Click Continue, then enter your name, email address, phone number and home address, select a user name and password and click Register.
2. Log in to your NetSpend account. Click the second link listed under Resources, enter your user name and password and click Log In.
3. Check your balance online. Click the Account Info tab along the top of the screen and look for the number next to Available Balance.
Tips Warnings
You can check your balance by phone by calling NetSpend customer service 866-387-7363 and using either an agent or the automated telephone system. You will be charged a fee.
