The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the National Basketball Association's most successful franchises in terms of championships. Dedicated Lakers fans are able to decorate their bedrooms with a Lakers theme, which allows them to enjoy the Lakers even when they are not watching a game. Also, a Lakers themed bedroom is an ideal setting to invite friends over to watch the game, especially if a big-screen television is in the room.
Floor
The floor of the Lakers-themed bedroom serves as a foundation for the décor of the entire room. Install purple and gold carpeting as a tribute to the basketball team's colors. If carpeting an entire room with a specialty rug is too costly, lay a less expensive L.A. Lakers rug on top of the carpet or wood flooring. If feasible, use wood flooring to design the bedroom like the floor of the Lakers home basketball court. To do so, paint the Lakers logo at the center of the floor.
Posters
Some current players on posters are Kobe Bryant, Ron Artest and Pau Gasol, while former players include Ervin "Magic" Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O'Neal. Some posters feature the Lakers logo and legendary Lakers head coaches such as Pat Riley and Phil Jackson. Frames are available for posters if you don't want to tape or pin posters to the wall.
Furniture
The NBA offers licensed furniture and furniture-related pieces with an L.A. Lakers theme, such as dressers, bedding, chairs, bean bag chairs and footstools. While NBA-licensed furniture is the best in terms of quality, it is also more expensive than nonlicensed furniture. These items are available at authorized retailers. Most Lakers furniture features the team's logo, but some pieces have murals of the Lakers star athletes. Some furniture pieces (dressers, tables and nightstands) accommodate framed pictures of Lakers basketball players, Staples Center and the team's logo.
Hoops
To complete a Lakers themed bedroom, hang a basketball hoop on the wall or at the top of the bedroom door. The wall is able to support a regulation sized basketball hoop, while bedroom doors are reserved for smaller, plastic basketball hoops. To avoid damage on the walls and floors, invest in a soft foam or plastic basketball. If the bedroom has a wood floor, paint a free-throw line on the floor.
