Vent A Bathroom Into A Soffit

Bathroom vents help dissipate the heat and water condensation from showers that can cause mold and mildew. A bathroom can be easily vented to the soffit in your attic roof with a few basic supplies and tools.

Instructions

1. Measure the new vent, then cut a hole centered in the bathroom ceiling using a jigsaw.

2. Place the vent in the hole. Seal the edges with caulking and insulate it with foam weatherstripping to prevent leaks.

3. Cut a hole in the soffit with your jigsaw for the vent tube to exit.

4. Slide a piece of new pipe into the hole in the soffit. Apply caulking to secure the pipe to the vent tubing running from the bathroom.

5. Install the end cap on the vent tubing on the outside of the soffit using the supplied hardware. Caulk the edges of the hole.
