Paris Theme Ideas For A Teen'S Bedroom

Incorporate mementos and French-themed decor in the room.

A Parisian-themed teen bedroom lends itself well to a chic yet playful room design to fit your teen's personality. From the color scheme to the types of print used in the room, incorporating various French elements creates the Paris theme. Collect ideas with your teen to make the room her vision of a Parisian retreat.

Color Scheme

A simple color scheme complements the Parisian theme in a girl's bedroom. Black and white are often the main colors used to create the feel of Paris. Bold pink accents add pops of color around the room. Pink is often an accent color found in decorative pieces with a Parisian theme. To keep the room light, a white or cream color works best for the base wall color. Add in the black and pink through accents around the room.

Bedding

The bedding gives you a chance to incorporate all of the colors of the theme. Choose a simple black and white bedspread. Toile or or fleur-de-lis patterns in black on a white background work well to create the French feeling. Black and white stripes, polka dots or other patterns also work. Incorporate pink with the sheets and accent pillows on the bed. A stuffed French poodle is another way to add a Parisian feeling to the bed.

Walls

Add decorative elements to a basic white or cream wall to carry the Paris theme. Incorporate black or pink through stripes on the wall. Another option is to have a pink accent wall in the room. Look for a Paris-themed wallpaper or border for a patterned wall. An alternative is to paint a mural on the wall with Parisian symbols such as the Eiffel Tower, berets or people riding on bicycles. Paint the mural yourself or hire a local artist to do the work.

Decor

The decor you choose for the room accentuates the Paris theme. Start with a chandelier for the light fixture. Chandeliers are often associated with Parisian decor and add elegance that is associated with the city. A lamp shaped like the Eiffel Tower or one with chandelier-like crystals adds another source of light. Frame photos or images from Paris to hang on the wall. Hang posters or prints of artwork from famous French painters such as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec or Pierre August Renoir. Choose the pieces carefully, as some French artwork contains risque images not appropriate for teens. Use decorating pieces such as Eiffel Tower statues to decorate dressers, nightstands or shelves in the room.
