Bedroom Decorating Ideas With Pink & Green Colors

There are a lot of options when decorating in pink and green.

Pink and green is a popular color combination since the two hues are opposite on the color wheel. Pink, however, is sometimes seen as a girlie or feminine color, but there are many different ways to combine these two colors to create a sophisticated or contemporary look.

Plants

Incorporating plants into the décor of a room is a good way to make sure green is a part of the color scheme. Use various shades of green throughout the room, to enhancing the color pallete. Plants create a calming ambiance. They can offset the brightness of the pink and create a relaxing space. Use daisies and other plants with blooms that complement the colors.

Shades

The shades of pink and green that are used are very important. Lighter shades of pink and green create a softer, milder room. These softer shades will make the room look more like a child's room. Deepen the shades being used to make the room appropriate for teens or adults. Bright pink can be used to give a room a contemporary look and feel. Bright green plants can be used to accessorize the room. Also, brighter colors allow for brighter, bolder accents. Throw pillows, rugs and other accessories should match the brightness of the rest of the room.

Patterns

The patterns used on pillows and rugs can have a huge effect on the room as well. Use patterns that match the boldness of the room. For example, if the room is bright green and pink, it would not be a good idea to introduce soft shades of the colors. Replicating a pattern, such as a floral, throughout the room can help bring design together. Using green stripes with pink accents can make a room feel very sophisticated. There are many combinations of patterns in these colors so be sure not to overdo it.

Girls vs. Boys Rooms

Pink is typically seen as a feminine color, but the pink and green color scheme can definitely be used in a boys room as well. The important thing to remember is to use more green than pink when decorating. When pink is used, it should be a vibrant or deep pink, not a soft, pale shade. In girls rooms, typically more pink would be used than green, but pink accents can be added that can convey femininity.
