Bathroom Design Ideas With Wainscoting

Bathroom Design Ideas with Wainscoting

If you like the look of wainscoting but aren't sure incorporate it into your bathroom area, you have plenty of options. Wainscoting can add texture to your walls and give your bathroom an orderly look, thanks to its combination of horizontal and vertical straight lines. Bathroom wainscoting can also help a small bathroom appear larger, depending on your color choices.

Bright and White

For a bathroom that gives the impression of being sparkling clean and sanitary, opt for bright whites in your wainscoting. Paint the wainscoting and the vertical trim where it ends mid-wall a high-gloss white, and match it with white tile or marble on the floor. Paint the upper portion of the walls a vibrant jewel tone, such as emerald, violet or ruby, then add high-gloss white crown molding at the top. Finish off the look with ceiling paint that is several shades lighter but in the same range as your jewel tone, and match that color in your bath towels and mats.

Ultramodern Shine

Forget the traditional wainscoting wood panels and opt for an ultramodern look by using panels of metal sheeting as wainscoting. Copper or brushed aluminum will add shine to your bathroom and give you an easy-to-clean surface on the lower portion of your walls. Top off your metal wainscoting with any shade of green for copper sheets, as that will help bring out the natural patina of the copper as it ages. For aluminum wainscoting, choose cobalt blue paint with black and white flooring and fixtures for a cool look or warm up the room with burgundy paint, white fixtures and wood or bamboo flooring. Paint the horizontal trim across the top of your wainscoting in high gloss white or a color that matches your flooring if you cannot find metal trim to top it off. Add glass floating shelves above your wainscoting where storage is needed and opt for metal towel racks rather than wood.

Classic Country

If you prefer a classic country-style bath reminiscent of a rural cottage or summer home, choose natural pine wainscoting with a clear finish. Blue, gray or green tile flooring, all in subtle shades, will go well with this look, as will similar shades of paint. Choose wood towel racks and accessories and white fixtures and countertops.
