Decorate The Bathroom With Bead Board

Bead board comes in several different woods, MDF and PVC.

Bead board is versatile and classic, and lends itself perfectly to several different home decor styles. Bead board is manufactured using a variety of different materials from medium density fiberboard, PVC and wood. With a vast selection of materials available for purchase, there are several clever ways for you to use bead board in your bathroom design.

Instructions

Walls

1. Install white or pine bead board wainscoting around the bathroom for a classic Nantucket or beach-themed bathroom.

2. Prep the bathroom walls for bead board. Accomplish this by removing molding from the room. Putty and sand walls until they are flush and square.

3. Draw a level line across the room at the desired height of the bead board paneling. Cut boards to size. Using construction glue and nails, apply the panels to the walls. Finish with baseboards, rails and moldings for a finished look. Bead board paneling can be hung from floor to ceiling for a modern look.

4. Add some style to your boring bathroom shelving. Remove the existing backer from your bathroom and closet shelving. Sand and prep the surface. Install bead board using wood glue and finishing nails.

Cabinets and Doors

5. Upgrade your bathroom cabinets and vanity doors with bead board. First, remove the cabinet doors and any hardware.

6. Cut out the center of the doors. Use a router to create an edge for the bead board to rest on.

7. Using glue and finishing nails, insert a new bead board center in the cabinet door. Let the glue dry, then reinstall all hardware and hang doors back on cabinets.

8. Installing bead board on your flat cabinet and vanity doors is a cinch. First, remove the cabinet doors, along with all hinges and knobs. Use a waterproof adhesive on the door front, then set a piece of bead board paneling on top.

9. Hold the bead board in place using clamps and allow to dry. Install the hardware and reinstall your cabinet doors.
