Decorate A Kids Bedroom On A Budget

A small budget shouldn't limit the possibilities for a kids bedroom renovation. Reusing items and seeking out deals on new decorative elements allows your child to have a brand new room without breaking the budget. Using your current materials creatively is a positive place to start on the decorating project. Get your child involved to make the project and resulting room more meaningful. The collaborative project creates a room that your kid will want to show off to everyone who visits.

Instructions

1. Assess the condition of the current room. Decide which elements are a possibility for the new room design. Reusing items significantly reduces the cost of the decorating process.

2. Decide on a theme or decorating style for the kids bedroom. Take into consideration the personality and interests of the child. Pick a color scheme that coordinates with the theme to guide the selection of accessories.

3. Paint the walls of the room in one of the selected colors for an inexpensive update. Consider painting a theme-related mural on the walls once the base coat is dry.

4. Arrange the furniture in a way that allows the child plenty of room to move around and play. Consider a new arrangement with the old furniture for a free update on the room. Another option is to repaint or refinish your existing furniture for a cheap redecoration.

5. Select a bedding set if the old one doesn't fit with the new room decoration. Choose a solid color bedding set that can work with different themes in case you redecorate later. Connect the bedding set to the theme of the room with accent pillows decorated with the theme.

6. Decide on wall decor for the room. Look at thrift stores or garage sales for inexpensive framed prints and wall decor. Another option is to buy an artist's canvas and paint your own decor that matches the theme of the kids room.

7. Find accents for the room such as rugs, lamps, pillows and chairs. Look around the house to see if furnishings from other rooms can work in the kids room. Buy a new lampshade for an existing lamp that adds to the new theme.
