Use Red Paints In Dining Rooms And Kitchens

Red is a formidable color. It can take over a room. Sometimes, that is what you want: a significant color statement. Other times, restraint wins the day. If you are looking around at your kitchen or dining room and have red in mind, you have a continuum of choices for employing red paint. You may either go large, or apply the color with restraint. It's a personal choice, so make the selection that fits the existing palette of the rooms and your own aesthetics.

Instructions

1. Use a red floor for a zippy look that will also cover dirt better than a light-colored floor. This option works only if you have a floor you are comfortable painting, like cement or wood you don't mind covering. Darker colors like cherry or maroon will hide better than bright reds.

2. Paint the trim around windows and baseboards red for an immediate impact that won't blow out the color scheme of the room. These dynamic lines will have a big influence while covering a little area.

3. Paint the doors red for a bigger accent. They will be eye-catching, but the localized color won't intrude as much as the red of a full wall will.

4. Paint a single wall red. This accent wall will be a dramatic backdrop for one side of the room, and won't saturate the room.

5. Paint the entire dining room or kitchen red. This bold option is not for the faint of palette, but will certainly start conversations. Deeper reds lend a classic air. More vibrant reds will electrify the kitchen or dining room.
