Ideas For Remodeling Bedrooms

Your bedroom is a sanctuary from everything that goes on in the world around you. This is the place you go to escape from the stress of everyday life. When you remodel your bedroom, you have an opportunity to create the perfect oasis for your life. Use ideas for remodeling bedrooms that ensure you feel comfortable and at ease in your home.

Calming Color Scheme

Although bright colors have their place in the home, you should avoid using too many bright colors when remodeling bedrooms. The best bedroom design ideas incorporate calming colors into your room. A color such as black can make you feel restricted and even give you nightmares. Red is also known to increase metabolism and make it harder to fall asleep. Calming colors such as blue and green are known to invoke feelings of serenity, which are two key elements to consider for your remodeling.

Move the Electronics

Many people have a TV and even a computer in their bedroom. Studies have shown that having electronics in the bedroom can interfere with sleep and that children who have a TV in their bedroom have lower scores on standardized tests than children who don't. Some therapists suggest that a TV in the bedroom can also interfere with the intimacy of a couple. When you are remodeling bedrooms, consider moving the TVs and computers out of the bedrooms and in to more appropriate areas of the home. Do you think the bedroom is the only place for your computer or TV? You will be amazed at the possibilities if you just look around your home. Transforming an unused coat closet into a small office nook is the perfect way to remove a computer terminal from your bedroom.

Change the Bedding

If you cannot afford to buy new bedroom furniture when you remodel bedrooms, consider changing your bedding. There are several inexpensive bedding options that can help transform your room. You also may be surprised to find that you can update your bedding with items you already own. For instance, a handmade crocheted throw that is currently in storage could add a much-needed splash of color folded up at the end of your bed. Accent pillows that no longer work for your living room could be used as a decorative element on your bed. Try to select bedding items that complement your paint or wallpaper colors to truly integrate the bedding into your bedroom design. Feel free to use bright colors in your bedding; in small doses bright colors can be a good thing.
