Simple shapes and colors go into
Modern design, based on a simple but powerful art, works with basic shapes and colors. However, modern design still requires considerable planning to develop a room with that modern feel. Designing a bedroom needs to include the necessities, such as the bed, nightstand, lighting and a dresser. Giving these traditional furniture pieces in your bedroom some modern elements will add much more of an edge to the room.
Instructions
1. Find a color for your walls. Usually people think of the basics when they think of modern: blacks and whites or primaries. You can paint one wall or all of them.
2. Consider your furniture options. Will you be purchasing new furniture for your modern room, or using old furniture? If you purchase new furniture, as you shop around, ask someone to help you find something modern. If you're going to use furniture from around the house, you will need to consider not only the modern elements, but also whether pieces match the rest of the bedroom. Look for things that are close in color. All you need is a dresser, a nightstand (or two) and a bed frame with a mattress.
3. Find art to go in your new modern room. Use the artwork to express what the furniture does not. Use artwork with incredible textures and colors. If you're on a budget, you may be able to find some online. If not, search your local art galleries.
4. Buy the right comforter. Your bed needs to look crisp and sharp in your new modern bedroom, and that means no floral or pink bedspreads. Try to stick with a solid color, but if that is not possible, no more than three colors to a bedspread, and try to avoid wild patterns.
