Hook Up A Bathroom Sink Drain

You have the bathroom vanity in place and the sink is installed. The next step is to install the drain. This actually requires a couple of different installation kits and the use of some basic plumbing tools and supplies. As long as all of your measurements are correct, you should have no problem installing your bathroom drain. Once the drain is properly installed, you can begin using your new bathroom sink right away.

Instructions

1. Insert the top of the bathroom drain assembly through the hole in the bottom of the sink.

2. Secure the drain in place with the large threaded stopper that comes with the kit. This threads on to the bottom of the drain assembly and holds the drain securely in place.

3. Install the drain stopper as per the instructions that come with the drain assembly.

4. Wrap the bottom of the new drain pipe with no more than two layers of plumber's tape. If there are threads on the drain pipe, it is acceptable to wrap the tape around the threads.

5. Wrap no more than two layers of plumber's tape around the end of the drain pipe that leads out through the wall.

6. Put the rubber washers from the p-trap installation kit on the drain pipe from the sink and the drain pipe leading out to the wall.

7. Install the p-trap pipe in place between the sink drain and the wall pipe. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions if you encounter any problems installing the p-trap.

8. Turn on the water to check for leaks. If there are leaks, turn off the water, remove the p-trap and reinstall it. If it still leaks, consider returning the p-trap installation kit and getting a replacement.
