Decorate A Sagecolored Master Bedroom

Sage is an herb and a color.

Sage is a great color for any room of the house because it's so versatile. You can incorporate sage into almost any decorating scheme, except for perhaps an ultra-modern look. Sage is an earthy color that looks wonderful with wood furniture and antiques, and is not strongly associated with one gender or another. Decorating a master bedroom with sage is easy, though there are some steps you can take to maximize the earthy tones of this color.

Instructions

1. Pick out wooden furniture that is ideally a lighter shade of wood, like oak or pine. Darker shades of wood, like cherry or mahogany, will look fine with sage, but will give the room a heavier look.

2. Pick out bedspreads, drapes and a rug in shades that complement sage. For example, shades of brown will give the room a strong, earthy feeling, while white or yellow will brighten the room and lighter shades of blue will provide an aquatic, beachy atmosphere. Purple is also a suitable complement for green. Avoid red, which will make you feel like you're celebrating Christmas, and orange and green, which will be too bright for most people.

3. Accessorize with mirrors, lamps and vases that match your decorating scheme or that you simply like. For example, for a shabby chic room, use distressed mirrors and lamps. Alternatively, just pick out pieces, such as muted brass lamps or wrought-iron framed mirrors, that go well with green and that you like. Avoid very sleek, ultra-modern pieces, as they will overpower the color.

4. Bring nature into your master bedroom, as sage is a color taken from nature. Fill a glass bowl with sand, seashells, leaves or stones. Display it on your bureau or nightstand.
