Luxury Bedroom Ideas

Rich textures, whites and beige colors all can help create a luxurious bedroom.

A bedroom, especially a master bedroom, can set the tone for an entire home. It's relatively easy to create a luxurious and elegant bedroom by using color accents, exclusive furniture and artwork, and rich, textured fabrics throughout the room.

Headboards

An attractive headboard can create an elegant and luxurious feel in your bedroom. A bed creates a natural centerpiece for a bedroom, while allowing you to express your unique style. Popular headboards include carved wood and shaped wrought iron. Headboards can also feature rich fabrics like silk and satin as well as rich-looking fabrics like leather. For a more distinctive appearance, consider turning a large antique mirror or gate into a headboard or placing two rows of elegant photo frames on shelves above your bed.

Signature Pieces

Select high-quality pieces such as wooden sleigh beds, suede or leather benches, and matching dressers and nightstands to create a luxurious bedroom. It's important to avoid over-crowding, so focus instead on finding the right pieces to suit your needs rather than completely filling a room. Remember that unique adornments on the wall, such as decorative molding and full-size artwork, can also help create balance and a sense of elegance.

Rich Fabrics

Use rich fabrics in complementary tones in order to create a luxurious feel. Consider covering a plain headboard in fabric. Or, add a canopy to a bed for a feel that's both luxurious and feminine. Both lightweight materials like silk and rayon and heavier fabrics like suede and velvet can foster a luxurious feel. Complete the look by picking richly textured fabrics for curtains, blankets, and comforters.

Color Accents

Whites and beiges are traditionally used to create an elegant atmosphere in bedrooms. However, rich colors like brown, purple, and red can also be used as accents to draw attention to a portion of the room, to adorn a signature piece, or just to create a more distinctive feel. Also consider adding unique wallpaper or a textured surface, such as faux brick paneling, to one or more walls. If treating one wall uniquely, consider selecting the wall across from the entrance or the wall featuring your bed's headboard.
