Install Peel And Stick Vinyl Tiles On Bathroom Floor

Peel-and-stick vinyl tiles are an acceptable alternative to ceramic or other hard tiles for the bathroom, as they are moisture-proof and durable. Today's available range of tiles is far more attractive and versatile than it used to be. You can lay the tiles over any hard, flat surface, including plywood underlayment, but a cement board underlayment is always preferable because of moisture issues.

Instructions

1. Take out the toilet. Do this by turning off the water line at the back of the toilet with your adjustable wrench. Remove the two floor bolts. Lift the toilet up and out. Stuff an old towel into the sewer line to prevent harmful gases from leaking out.

2. Clean the floor with floor cleanser and a mop. Let it dry two days.

3. Measure the length and width of the floor, making a mark at the halfway point in each direction. Divide the floor into four quadrants using your chalk snap line, laying two lines that intersect through the middle of the floor. Use a carpenter's square to ensure they are perpendicular to one another.

4. Pull off the wax paper from the back of the first tile. Press it to the floor at the intersection, bordered by the two lines. Press it firmly to the floor.

5. Press the next tile alongside the first one, making sure the edges are firmly against each other.

6. Continue building out from the middle, tile by tile, along the lines. Use your razor knife to cut the tiles around the toilet drain and other obstructions as needed. Cut the partial tiles by the walls using your razor knife and square, so the cuts are straight.

7. Re-install the toilet.
