Make Your Own Art For Your Bedroom

Create your own art to hang in your bedroom.

Don't pay retail prices for bedroom art; make your own with a few craft supplies. Even if you have no artistic talent, you can trace an image or spread a little glue. Customize bedroom art to suit your personality and your sense of style with colorful paints, glass bits or your favorite images. Artist's canvas frames are available in a variety of sizes at most craft stores; create art to fit the smallest nook or the space behind your bed.

Instructions

Painted Art

1. Project an image onto an artist's canvas and trace with a pencil. Without a projector, you can trace a design onto the canvas using a template or stencils.

2. Fill in the design sections on the center of the canvas with your choice of acrylic paint. Work your way to the sides and the top from the center, filling in with paint in the appropriate colors for your art project.

3. Paint the edges of the frame with acrylics to coordinate with the art on the face of the frame.

4. Allow the paint to dry for up to 24 hours.

Decoupage Art

5. Paint the edges of an artist's canvas to coordinate with your bedroom using acrylic paint. Cut photos and images to cover the canvas to create a collage for your bedroom.

6. Dry fit the images onto an artist's canvas in the desired arrangement for the collage. Remove the images in order beginning from the right to the left on the bottom row. Stack the images as you remove them. Remove the images by rows, always from right to left.

7. Spread a thin layer of decoupage medium onto the top left corner. Press the photo/image on top of the stack into the decoupage glue. Follow the process to add images to the top row. The pictures in the stack should be in order from left to right.

8. Follow the process to glue all of the images onto the canvas. Cover the images with at least three layers of decoupage medium; let the glue dry between coats.

Mosaic Art

9. Trace or draw a design pattern onto an artist's canvas. Dry fit mosaic tiles onto the design in the center of the canvas. Cut the tiles as needed to fit within the parameters of the design using tile nippers. The edges of the tiles should be touching.

10. Remove the tile pieces in order. Spread a thin layer of one-part epoxy adhesive onto the center of the canvas. Press the tiles onto the glue.

11. Cover the canvas with tiles. Work in small sections from the center to all sides. Wait 24 hours before hanging the mosaic art on the wall in your bedroom.
