Teen Girl Bedroom Designs & Ideas

Showcase your passion for fashion by using funky polka dots in your bedroom decor.

If you are like most teen girls, you spend a lot of time in your bedroom -- whether you are studying, sleeping, entertaining friends or just hanging out by yourself. Decorate the space to reflect your personality, hobbies or dreams and create a space you can be comfortable in. Get your parent's permission before making any major changes, such as painting the walls or changing furniture.

Fashionista

Your bedroom can look like a page out of your favorite fashion magazine or serve as your inspirational laboratory to create your own fashions. Frame your favorite magazine pictures or posters that look like they're fresh out of the pages of a magazine. Paint words on the walls or use peel-and-stick letters to make out words like "runway" or "vogue." Set up a dress form mannequin in one corner of the room to display your favorite outfit or make your own creations. Add a fancy hat, scarf or feather boa if it works with the look you like. Set up a dressing table and mirror with lights around it. Add pictures, lipstick marks or a feather boa around the mirror if you don't have access to a mirror with lights.

Tropical Paradise

Create your own tropical paradise in your bedroom, even if you live on top of a snowy mountain or in the middle of the city. Paint the walls to look like the burnt orange just before sunset or a clear blue sky. Alternatively, hang a wall mural that depicts sunset over the ocean. Hang wall sconces that look like Tiki torches and add a potted silk palm tree in one corner. Leis, grass cloth or hibiscus flowers can add to the feel of the room. Choose solid-colored bedding in bright colors, such as turquoise, orange, yellow or fuchsia, or with tropical flowers or sunset scenes on them.

Hollywood

Decorate your bedroom with a Hollywood theme if you want to celebrate your theatrical side, or simply want a glamorous room to rest your head in. Place a red carpet in front of your bed or leading into the room from outside the door. Frame black and white photos of your favorite actors or actresses, whether from this era or days past or use movie posters. Hang a makeup mirror with lights all around it or set up a director's chair. Customize the chair with your name, if possible. Hang images of the famed Hollywood sign or the "Walk of Fame" stars. Alternatively, hang a wall mural that depicts the Hollywood Hills with the sign in the background.

Frills and Lace

Show your soft side by creating an ultimately feminine room that doesn't skimp on frills and lace. Frilly, lacy bedding and curtains in soft pink, baby blue or lavender can serve as the centerpiece of your decor. Hang pictures, murals or paint the walls with images that make you feel feminine, such as ballet slippers, delicate flowers or your favorite baby animals, like puppies, kittens or horses. Place lacy runners or doilies on the nightstand, dresser or as a liner on your shelves. Display delicate knickknacks, jewelry boxes or other figurines. Hang a picture board with lace and ribbons to hold pictures of you and your friends.
