Paint Concrete Bedroom Floors

Painting concrete follows the same procedure regardless of location.

Concrete floors in any room indoors, including bedrooms, can be customized to meet the needs and desires of the owner. You can paint or stain the concrete in various patterns and colors to complement any decor. The key to a good paint or stain comes from proper preparation. An interior concrete floor should be relatively smooth, which requires sanding. Painting the floor at that point is a simple matter of rolling out concrete paint onto the floor.

Instructions

1. Clean the surface of the concrete with a broom to remove a majority of dust and debris. Patch any cracks or holes with a concrete patching compound following the instructions on the container. Allow any patches to fully dry before sanding and painting the surface.

2. Sand the floor with a floor buffer and a 100-grit, screen mesh sandpaper disc. Work in random circles around the surface of the floor. Get the corners and tight spots with a random orbit sander and the same grit sandpaper.

3. Clean the surface with a concrete cleanser and a mop to remove all the dust and debris. Mop the floor with plain water to remove any residual cleansing solution.

4. Paint the floor with a concrete paint in your choice of colors and a paint roller. Epoxy paints are the standard concrete paint and are resistant to foot traffic. Allow the first coat to dry before adding a second top coat.
