Decorate A Boy'S Bedroom In A Western Theme

Little boys love to pretend they are cowboys.

Remember the days when you dreamed of becoming a cowboy who could rope steers, ride the range and sleep under the stars near your faithful companion and sidekick, your horse? Decorating a boy's bedroom in a Wild West theme will stoke his imagination and fuel his desire to be an honest, hardworking cowboy. Many accessories, fabrics, colors, and furniture choices work well for this theme.

Instructions

1. Think of heavy duty materials when you choose bedding, drapes and throw pillows for your child's bedroom. Denim, faux leather and bandana print fabrics all work well with a western theme.

2. Choose warm colors for the bedroom. You may decide to paint the walls taupe or a sage green. Accessorize with rugs and throw pillows that are burgundy or the warm colors of a sunset.

3. Paint a mural on one wall of your young man's bedroom. One idea is a desert scene with cactus and a sunset in the background, according to the Artistic Sensations website.

4. Choose rustic and sturdy furniture for the western themed bedroom. Broad beams and dark wood tones will make the room look like a ranch hand's bunkhouse. There are plenty of styles to choose from at furniture stores. A popular choice for a western theme is furniture with a faux log cabin look.

5. Accessorize with lamps that have faux leather shades or stirrups printed on the fabric. Use desert or mountain scenes for the pictures in the room. You can even buy electric lamps that look like old-fashioned lanterns. If the young boy has a bookshelf, purchase bookends that look like cowboy hats, horses or a cowboy leaning against a fence-row.

6. Make a rustic looking room decoration by tying a lasso together with leather strings to create a wreath. Decorate with horseshoes, arrowheads or a bridle.
