Gothic Bedroom Ideas

Gothic room design features moody dark themes and colors

The dark colors and ornate decor of Gothic architecture and Medieval times can make an excellent bedroom decor theme for those who enjoy a more somber or dark atmosphere. The Gothic theme offers a wide palette from which to draw the inspiration to bring a moody Gothic presence to your bedroom.

Gothic Wall Decor

Red, gray, black and silver colors are effective color themes for a Gothic bedroom. Red walls with black velvet tapestries or vampire-themed posters work well in a gothic inspired bedroom. Another option is to paint walls to look like the walls of a castle. For a more horrific Gothic slant, paint walls black and splash on dark red paint for a bloody effect.

Gothic-Inspired Furniture

Wood or wrought iron furniture with sharp, ornate engravings work best in a Gothic bedroom. Plush red velvet lounge chairs, black leather high-backed chairs, and a velvet settee adds a Gothic feel to any bedroom as well. Furniture with a Gothic architecture bent (arched and ornate) is best suited to Gothic bedrooms.

Gothic Accessories

Accent the room with silver candelabras, red and black candlesticks, and heraldic emblems and gargoyle statues. Silver chains, handcuffs or hanging heraldic symbols can enhance the atmosphere of a Gothic-inspired bedroom. Add Medieval elements such as swords, coats of arms, and shields to complete the effect. Wiccan and elements of witchcraft are other decorative accessories that can enhance a Gothic-themed bedroom.
