Decorate A Blue Bedroom

Decorate a Blue Bedroom

Because of the soothing, relaxing feeling it brings, blue is a color often used in bedrooms. Too much blue, however, can make the occupant feel like he is sleeping underwater. By introducing other colors and certain materials, you can give your blue room a more modern feel or the feeling of a cozy beach cabin.

Instructions

Decorate a Blue Bedroom

1. Decide how you want your blue bedroom to feel. Adding a lot of white will give it a beach cabin vibe; adding sleek, black items will make the room feel more modern.

2. Add crown molding to the top of the walls. Choose either black or white, depending on your taste. Adding crown molding will break up the large expanse of blue walls.

3. Add shelves to the walls. Choose a white shelving unit, if you are going for the feel of a cozy beach cabin. Choose slim, black, floating shelves for a more modern look. Add decorative accessories to the shelves. A silver vase and tall candlesticks work well against a blue wall in a modern room. Shells and short, fat, white candles complement an ocean-themed room.

4. Hang window treatments and add bed linens. For the modern room, choose linens and treatments that do not have any blue in them. Instead, choose soft gray or white with a black, modern pattern. For a beachfront or country feel, choose white linens and treatments, with a blue floral pattern in them.

5. Add accent colors. If the walls are dark blue and your room is modern, bright yellow roses in a black vase will add a sophisticated touch. If the walls are pale blue and you are going for the country look, add pink roses in an old, white pitcher.
