Hang A Mirror On A Bedroom Door

A full-length mirror on a bedroom door lets you view your entire figure and wardrobe before heading out to face the world. If there is a stain on your skirt or a fleck of lint on your trousers, the mirror will help you notice the problem. Installing the mirror on the door requires support brackets and mounting screws, available at hardware stores. Choosing the best hardware for the job depends on the door construction. In newer homes, doors are often made of thin wood layered on a hollow core to keep down the weight as well as the cost.

Instructions

Fastening to the Door

1. Hold the mirror against the door at the desired height and make a pencil mark in each corner.

2. Draw a horizontal line with the pencil and ruler from the upper left to right corner. Hold a bubble level against the pencil line to confirm it is level.

3. Screw a picture bracket into the door at the two bottom corners. Use toggle bolts in a hollow door or wood screws with poiinted tips in a solid wood door.

4. Rotate the brackets so the support lip points up. Lower the bottom edge of the mirror into the bottom brackets while an assistant holds the mirror against the door for support.

5. Screw the two top brackets into the door over the upper corners of the mirror, with each bracket lip pointed upward. Drive each screw halfway into the door so the bracket can rotate. The assistant should continue to hold the mirror in place.

6. Rotate the two top brackets so the lip on each is over the top edge of the mirror. Once the brackets are in position, finish screwing them securely into the door.

Hanging over the Door

7. Open the bedroom door.

8. Place the two hangers over the top edge of the door so the hooks face the side for hanging the mirror. Spread the two hangers evenly on on door edge.

9. Lift the mirror to the door and hang the hooks or wire on the back of the mirror onto the door hangers. Adjust the mirror left or right to level.
