Decorate A Bedroom With Brown And Purple

Purple provides a calming feel in a bedroom.

Deep purple hues combined with chocolate browns may induce a state of relaxation and make these colors ideal for a bedroom. Decorating this personal space depends entirely on the tastes of its occupants. Brown and purple items can be found in all styles of furniture and accessories. Look at pictures in interior decorating magazines for inspiration when planning your purple and brown bedroom.

Instructions

1. Paint the walls of your bedroom a light purple or brown color. Dark colors tend to evoke a gloomy feel in a bedroom so sticking to lighter hues avoids this potential problem.

2. Place an area rug on the floor if the bedroom isn't already carpeted. Get a rug with a dominant color theme of brown or purple or a pattern that incorporates both.

3. Choose matching brown wood furniture for the bed frame, dresser, night stand, desk, shelves and any other pieces for the bedroom.

4. Choose silver accent pieces like curtain rods, door knobs and lamps, as this color adds a softer feel to the area when combined with brown and purple.

5. Place accessories on shelves and table tops throughout the bedroom that have a dominant color theme of purple or brown. For example, decorative purple glass objects, brown accent pillows and purple flowers in a brown vase.

6. Hang brown or purple curtains above the windows. Choose a color that's darker than the wall color to avoid a monochrome feel in the bedroom.

7. Choose a sheet set and comforter in opposite colors. For example, chocolate brown sheets with a royal purple comforter.
