Decorate The Dining Room For Christmas With A White & Pink Christmas Palette

White and pink poinsettias add a refreshing look to your holiday decor.

A pink-and-white palette is an interesting alternative to the red-and-green color scheme that is traditional for the Christmas season. The soft combination of these colors will give your room a fresh look to complement vintage, cottage or traditional decor. Additionally, beautiful varieties of poinsettia plants are readily available in pink or white, and some plants are a combination of both. Combine these delicate colors with polished silver accents and you will create an inspiring atmosphere for your holiday guests.

Instructions

1. Cover your dining table with a crisp white linen cloth with an ample overhang on all sides. Place a wide pink runner down the center of the table. A solid pink cloth or a soft print, such as a toile, would be equally effective.

2. Gather several silver candleholders and place them in a staggered line down the center of the runner. Space the holders about 6 inches apart and stock them with varying shades of tall pink tapers.

3. Set each place at the table with white china or delicately patterned china decorated with pink flowers. Complement your china with pink pressed glass tumblers and etched crystal wine glasses. The tableware should be polished silver. Place a folded white linen napkin in a silver holder on each plate. Name cards and a small wrapped gift with pink ribbons will complete the setting.

4. Make a wide sash for each chair from a fabric that complements your runner. Cut your fabric, turn the raw edges over and secure them with fabric glue. Wrap the sash around the middle of the chair's back and tie a large simple bow with long streamers with the ends. Tuck a faux glittered poinsettia through the center of the knot if desired.

5. Spray pink and white poinsettia plants with silver florist's glitter. Set the plants in silver pots and arrange them on the table among the candlestick holders to make the center of the table look full and lush.

6. Decorate the windows. Hang wreaths embellished with white and pink faux poinsettias and clear lights in each window and center a silver candleholder topped with a tall pink taper on the windowsill. Arrange small poinsettias in silver pots on either side of the candle.

7. Fill a large silver bowl with pink glass Christmas balls and center it on the buffet. Set silver candelabras with pink tapers on both sides of the bowl. Arrange several glittered poinsettia plants in silver pots to fill any empty space.

8. Embellish a pine swag with pink and white faux poinsettias and hang it along the top edge of the china cabinet doors. Tie a florist's bow in its center and allow the ribbon end to flow down the front of the cabinet.

9. Decorate a lavish Christmas tree and stand it in a corner of the room. Illuminate the tree with many strands of clear mini-lights. Place an oversized white or pink florist's bow on the top of the tree with several long streamers twisting down its sides. Lay stems of pink and white faux poinsettias between the branches. Finish the tree by hanging dozens of silver glass balls.
