Choose wall colors that blend best with your favorite country decor.
The wall colors in a country-style bedroom set the tone for the entire room. Baby blue, pastel purple or light shades create a soft effect that blends with old-fashioned or rustic country decor. Richer shades work well, but only in a balanced way with decor that complements the dark shades on the wall. Design a country bedroom that captures the farm house look or French country style that you want to create.
Pastel Shades
Light pastel shades really blend nicely in a country bedroom. These colors don't create an overwhelming feel, so you can paint the entire room pastel purple, pink, light yellow, pastel green or other light shades. Decorate with other pastel shades, white or rustic wooden country furniture and pastel bedding. Include a few old-fashioned accents on the dresser, such as an antique silver hand-held mirror and brush set or an old crystal vase filled with light colored silk flowers.
Earth Tones
Earth tones, such as beige, medium green, tan and other neutral shades, also can make a country bedroom really stand out. These colors blend well with all sorts of decor and they are light so you can paint the entire room one main earth tone shade. Choose soft white or light colored bedding and other earth tone accents, such as baskets filled with earthy colored yarn, rocks and a few plants.
Dark Shades
Some dark shades, such as burgundy, plum and forest green, blend easily in a country room. Choose one main wall as an accent wall to paint a dark color and leave the other walls white. Decorate with other lighter colors that complement the wall and other decor in the room. For instance, adorn the bed with light purple bedding and floral pillows, if the wall has a rich plum shade. Hang up pictures with white frames so they stand out against a darker wall.
Citrus Colors
Citrus shades also can work well in a country bedroom as long you decorate in a balanced way. Pick a bright citrus shade, such as orange, lime green or bright yellow, and paint one accent wall with this color, leaving the other walls white. Adorn the bed with citrus or floral bedding showcasing bright shades. A wooden bowl full of real or plastic citrus fruit along with citrus paintings also can blend nicely in this type of country bedroom.
