Bedroom Ideas With Couches

Foutons give you additional sleeping arrangements.

Couches can make a welcome addition to a bedroom, especially if the sofa doubles as another bed in a pinch. Incorporate a couch into your room by looking at the available space within your room and working within your existing decor. By rearranging as necessary, you should be able to locate the space for a couch to fit comfortably in the design.

Leather Couch

A leather couch works nicely in a modern decor if you are lucky enough to possess a master bedroom that comes with a separate sitting area. This space can easily accommodate a couch that you can place next to a window so you can get the natural sunlight, read a book or receive a gentle, cooling breeze. Ensure that the couch location is free of glare from sunlight and gives you an excellent view of the television.

Fainting Sofas

For a cozy, romantic bedroom decor, add a fainting couch to the room. A fainting couch, popular in the Victorian era, contains one arm and a partial back that allows a person to recline. It allowed Victorian ladies whose corsets were constricting them a place to relax and recover. Select one that is as wide as the bed so you can place it at the bottom of the bed. This gives you a spot to change your shoes or lounge watching television; the back of the couch can substitute for a footboard, if space is an issue. You can also place it under the window if you skip one nightstand and move the bed closer to the wall.

Futon

A futon works well in a kids' room for extra seating for friends or to serve as an extra bed for sleepovers. Borrowed from the Japanese, the Westernized version of a futon comes with a frame and can be adjusted as either a flat bed or a couch. Place a futon opposite the television against a wall for video gaming.

Sleeper Sofa

An ideal solution for a studio apartment or guest quarters includes a sleeper sofa. In a studio, it can be available for friends and relatives to spend the night yet double as a spot to lounge on during the day. For a guest room with a bed, add a sleeper sofa for children or, if using the guest room as an office by day, consider adding two sleeper sofas to the room as it gives you the option of sleeping a family of four -- two adults and two children -- in the same room, but allows you use of the room when no guests are present.
