Eliminate bird mites from a bedroom
Bird mites gain their name because they generally infest birds, the same ones that you can see tweeting in a nest found on a bedroom's windowsill. These mites can quickly and meticulously jump from a bird to a human host. Once inside of the home, the bird mites will spread quickly to the bedroom's furniture, your clothing and bedding. The mites' bites can be painful and will leave unsightly red marks all across a human's skin. Fortunately, you can eliminate bird mites from a bedroom.
Instructions
1. Sprinkle the floor, furniture and beneath the bed with a product that contains boric acid, such as 20 Mule Team Borax. If you are sprinkling the boric acid onto a carpet, let it sit for one hour then vacuum it up. Empty the vacuum in a garbage bag outside. Tie the bag closed and place it into an outdoor trash can.
2. Vacuum any electronics, smaller surfaces and furniture with a hand-held vacuum. Perform this ritual daily to eliminate the mites. Empty the vacuum outdoors and throw away the refuse in an outdoor garbage can.
3. Wash clothing kept in the bedroom after each wearing. Place the clothing into the washing machine on the "hot" cycle with a cup of laundry soap and two cups of ammonia. Place any clothing that tolerates heat into a dryer after washing on the highest setting possible. Wash bedding at least once a week in the same fashion.
4. Remove excess clutter from the bedroom. The more items in the bedroom, the more places the mites have to hide.
