Bathroom Beadboard Design Ideas

Bathroom Beadboard Design Ideas

Whether you're looking to create a clean style or to add a bit of old-fashioned flair, using beadboard in your bathroom is an inexpensive way to accomplish either. Beadboard looks like planked wood and is typically available at most home improvement stores in planks or panels. If you're not fond of wood, you can purchase beadboard look-alike panels made out of vinyl.

Decorate Your Walls

If you want to add a little popular, classic style to your bathroom, decorate your walls with beadboard. Use beadboard as wainscoting on the bottom half of your walls, or create a focal point by covering one whole wall in beadboard. Although beadboard is often primed and painted white, if you like the look, purchase plain, natural wood beadboard and paint or stain it with a color you love. If you're looking for a unique take, buy beadboard planks and install each plank with a space in between to create a vertical striped effect on your bathroom walls.

Add an Accent

If a bathroom done entirely in beadboard isn't your thing, add beadboard to your bathroom decor in smaller doses by using it as an accent. Replace an old cabinet or vanity door with one created from beadboard. Make a new back for a favorite old bathroom shelf, or build a tub surround out of beadboard to bring a little bit of the look into your bathroom without overdoing it. If you want a beadboard look that's a little different, purchase a few beadboard planks, cut them to size, and create beadboard picture frames for your bathroom.

Get Creative

If you love the look of beadboard but don't know what you want to do with it, get creative. You can attach beadboard to almost any flat surface and use it to create the look you want. Cover your ceiling with beadboard to add detail and depth to your bathroom, or make your bathroom look longer by installing beadboard horizontally. If you want something totally different, use beadboard planks to decorate a single bathroom wall but install planks on the diagonal for an unusual effect.
