Ideas For Redecorating A Small Bedroom

A small plant can add some life to the room.

A small bedroom will look stylish and comfortable if you know decorate it. Small spaces can suffer from being physically cramped, but attention to the decorations and furniture chosen helps alleviate the limited space. Redecorating a small bedroom gives you space that you didn't know you had.

Paint One Color

Painting the walls in a small room is the best way to change the room's look, but you need to make the right choices. Stay away from darker colors that will soak up light and instead choose very light colors that will open the room up. Avoid painting the door frames or trim a contrasting color, as this creates a busy look. The key is to keep things simple, which creates an illusion of added depth and space to the small bedroom.

Add a Plant

A small plant can be used to add some visual variety to a room without overwhelming it. A small shade-loving plant like a coleus or fern is ideal for a small room that does not get a lot of sunlight, while sun-loving plants like cacti and jade plants do well with little care in rooms with higher light. Silk flowers need no care and add color to a room that is otherwise neutral.

Replace the Bedside Table

A large bedside table takes up more space than it is worth in a small bedroom. Choose a lamp that can be fixed to the wall if you need a bedside lamp. Look for a very small bedside table with a narrow profile. It does not have to be large to hold things like glasses, a glass of water or a few books, and the saved space opens up more valuable floor space.

Center the Window

Make the window the focal point of the room, which opens up the space even further. Use light gauzy curtains to make the most of the light and then place the bed right under the window. Not only will this draw the eye to the window, it also bathes the bed in natural light, which makes it much more welcoming.

Raise the Bed

A tall bed gives the room more height and it offers you storage solutions as well. Stack off-season clothes in plastic storage boxes to free up valuable closet space and hide the storage boxes with a long bed skirt.
