Romantic Bedroom Colors

Romantic Bedroom Colors

Adding a bit of romance to your bedroom can be as simple as changing the color on your walls, adding a mirror or even hanging a painting. The word "romance" can encompass a lot-from having a space where you can share a private, relaxing conversation to creating eroticism and stimulating sexuality. When choosing colors for your bedroom, keep in mind that its main function is as a place to sleep. Pick and choose your colors accordingly. You can still have a spicy, erotic room while while making it a comfortable place to casually hang out and rest.

Neutral Tones

Earthy colors such as deep beige, dark gray, flesh colors and mauves lend themselves to a relaxing getaway that is calming and soothing. Add splashes of color and texture by using pillows, area rugs and blankets. Lighten up the walls by painting the wall trimming in white or ivories for an elegant touch. Add a vase with fresh flowers.

Warm Tones

Spice up your bedroom with reds, oranges and yellows. Nothing could be sexier than a rich palette of vibrant colors. Choose patterned area rugs in matching colors to add movement to the room and solid jewel-colored pillows to recline on. Look for fabrics from India that are multi-colored prints which have little reflective mirrors sewn into the fabric to reflect light. Colored glass votive holders will help finish off this ethnic, sensual look.

If you love these sexy colors but they seem to be too much for day-to-day, consider revising the palette by using the same colors in pastel form. Look for light reds, oranges and yellows that have been muted with white. Accessorize with solid color pillows, throws and neutral area rugs.

Cool Tones

Imagine the breeze rolling in at an outdoor resort spa. Cool blues, greens and deep purples help to relax a room, allowing for calm spaciousness. Accent your room with sheer curtains in white or metallic to give a mature, elegant and sensual feel to the room. Hang a mirror on the wall to open up the space even more. White votive candles in clear glass holders will help illuminate the romance in your new bedroom.

Artwork

In addition to paint, pillows, rugs and other accents, consider adding artwork to your walls. Paintings and photographs can make the perfect statement to create allure, mystery, eroticism and elegance to any room. Avoid artwork depicting violence or anything that may be offensive, as it may kill the mood. Nudes, landscapes and portraits are all good choices to help turn on the romance.

If you are not sure where to start with finding paintings, here is a list of inspiring paintings. "Reclining Nude" by Amadeo Modigliani sets the mood for sensuality, as does Gustav Courbet's "Nude Woman Reclining." "Matamoe" by Gauguin is a wildly vivid landscape filled with sensual colors, and "Girl With Pearl Earring" by Vermeer is a shyly sensual portrait.
