Decorate A Retro Style Bathroom

Create a retro-style bathroom using vintage pieces.

Design a creative, retro-style bathroom using decor elements from the 1930s through the 1970s. Incorporate vivid colors, vintage items and bold patterns to create a customized bathroom look. Use pieces from your own antique collection, or purchase realistic-looking replicas. Mix and match colors and fabrics for a bold, dramatic look. Play with retro trends, making them look new and stylish. Stay away from dated colors and fabrics, such as polyester.

Instructions

1. Paint the bathroom walls with vibrant color to create a retro vibe. Create geometric patterns on the wall using turquoise, yellow, lime green, black and white paint for a color-blocked look. Cover the walls with white paint and use painter's tape to form rectangular patterns. Fill in each rectangle with colorful paint; peel away the tape to reveal a white border around each box. If you prefer not to paint, hang bold, geometric-print wallpaper.

2. Enhance wood or tile floors with retro-inspired rugs. Place a black or white fluffy shag rug in front of the sink. Choose a matching bath mat.

3. Pick bathroom accessories with faux fur touches. Decorate a countertop with a tissue box covered with white faux fur fabric, and choose a matching garbage can.

4. Decorate bathroom walls with retro-inspired pieces. Hang a shiny silver sunburst-style clock. Display authentic 1950s and 1960s bathroom product ads in silver frames.

5. Display fresh flowers in a vintage vessels. Place tulips in a retro milk glass vase and set it on a vanity table or wall shelf. Showcase white roses in a vibrant green Depression glass vase.
