Create Space In A Small Bedroom

If you have a small bedroom, you can maximize space with minimal effort and expense. Follow these steps to find storage solutions and utilize furniture for more than one purpose.

Instructions

1. Purchase bed lifts to provide space underneath the bed. Bed lifts can be purchased at any local bed and bath specialty store.

2. Buy plastic drawers to store toys, clothes, shoes or other articles underneath the bed. Plastic drawers can be purchased at any discount store like Wal-Mart.

3. Remove closet doors that swing open into the room. Nail strings of beads or fabric across the closet opening to conceal clutter. Add shelves to inside of the closet. If the shelf can be seen through the beads then decorate the shelf with stuffed animals or a toy truck collection.

4. Invest in several hanging bookshelves to utilize available wall space. Use these shelves to store books or decorative items. A local thrift store often will sell inexpensive shelves, which may only need refinishing.

5. Remove the foot board from the bed to eliminate a bulky item and make the room easier to move around in.

6. Position a desk next to the bed so it can double as a night stand. Place a lamp on the side of the desk next to the bed. Use one side of the desk for work and the other side of the desk for dressing like styling hair or applying make-up.
