Kitchen & Dining Room Painting Tips

Make a statement when you paint your dining room and kitchen.

When you are considering a color scheme for your home you may want to coordinate the kitchen and the dining room. If you are looking for kitchen and dining room painting tips you should consider some of the specialty paints that are available and the many options you have that could tie together the kitchen and dining room. You may also want to have each room stand on their own with a unique theme that expresses how you want your kitchen or dining room to look. The paint colors and schemes you use in your kitchen and dining room should set the atmosphere you are looking for.

Specialty Paints

There are several techniques and specialty paints available that can help to create unique effects in your kitchen and dining room. If you are interest in a stucco look for your walls but would like to avoid the expense of having it done, then dab a sponge on beige paint as it dries to create a stucco look. Some of the specialty paints you can purchase are marble designs with brown and white that may help your dining room to stand out, and a wood-grain looking paint that could be used instead of wainscot in your kitchen.

Two Tone

You can use a two-tone color scheme to help match up your kitchen and dining room. You can paint the top half of your kitchen wall beige and the bottom half green, and then switch them around in the dining room for a contrasting but unifying look. Use white trim on the walls to separate the colors. You could also paint the upper walls in the kitchen and dining room the same color, and then match the color on the lower walls for a consistent color scheme.

Making Space

If you would like your kitchen and dining room to give the impression that they are larger, then use paints and the natural light from room windows to create that illusion. Brighter colored paints on the walls and duller tones on the ceilings can help the room to feel a little bigger. Colors such as white, off-white, beige and even a light blue can help to open up your kitchen and dining room a bit.
