Remove Depilatory Wax From A Dining Room Table Top

Keep the dining room table free of wax stains that damage the wood.

Unwanted hair is removed with the use of depilatory wax. This oil-based substance adheres to other surfaces, just as it does to the skin. Depilatory wax accidentally deposited on the surface of your dining room table has the potential to damage the wood because of its heat and greasy residue. Similar to other types of wax, such as candle wax, successful removal of depilatory wax relies on removing the wax itself as well as the oil-based residue it leaves behind.

Instructions

1. Adjust your hairdryer to the lowest heat setting. Position the dryer 12 inches away from the depilatory wax stain and heat the wax until it liquefies.

2. No need to worry about soiling paper towels; toss them out when you're done.

Wipe the liquefied wax off the dining room table with paper towels. As wax is removed, discard the soiled towel and continue with a clean towel to avoid transferring the wax back to the table. Carefully wipe up all the wax without smearing it into surrounding areas.

3. Mix a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spritz the diluted vinegar onto the area of the table that was stained with wax. Rub the area with paper towels to remove remaining wax substance.

4. Buff the dining room table with an old dryer sheet to pick up the greasy residue left by the depilatory wax. Rub the table in a circular motion until clean and shiny. Discard the dryer sheet.
