Decorate A Bedroom In Turquoise & Brown Inexpensively

Turquoise and brown makes a bright, natural color palette.

Turquoise is a specific blue, based on the color of the semi-precious stone with the same name. This color is quite bold but blends nicely with brown to create a bright, earthy feel to your decor. However, finding art and other decor items that follow this theme is not always easy on a fixed income. Put together this look by using a little creativity to find and make items within you budget. Gather parts of the decor slowly as you run across treasures that work with both the color palette and your available cash.

Instructions

1. Use dark brown wood furniture in the bedroom. This furniture is widely available, making it easy to find at a bargain. Buy new furniture on sale or look for used furniture online or through garage sales and thrift stores.

2. Paint the walls to bring out the turquoise and brown look. Use a turquoise accent wall and paint the other walls a more neutral color, such as cream, or paint all the walls a bold turquoise. Use painter's tape to create brown and turquoise stripes on the wall by using the painters tape as guidelines on the wall. Alternatively, print out stencils and and use them to put shapes on the wall. Spray the stencils with a stencil adhesive and use a roller brush to paint inside the stencil. Try a turquoise wall with brown bird silhouettes by painting the inside of a stencil with brown paint to create the silhouette. Black or dark grey paint also works for silhouettes.

3. Accent the room with cheap turquoise and brown finds, such as turquoise throw pillows or a brown armchair.

4. Convert discount finds to match the theme. Try reupholstering a brown chair with a turquoise printed fabric. Spray paint a white lamp shade with turquoise paint and complete the look with a brown lamp base. Frame decorative wallpaper to create wall art or use the wallpaper to make a plain picture frame match the decor.

5. Complete the look using neutrals such as blacks, creams and whites. Try a white trim around the walls, windows and doorways, black lamps or cream-colored curtains. These colors will help break up the solid brown and turquoise look and are easy to find at a bargain because they are common and widely available. Try thrift stores, online buy and sells and local discount stores to find neutral furniture and accessories at a deal.
