Decorating Ideas For White Wicker Bedroom Furniture

White wicker chair

White wicker furniture brings a casual, airy look to any bedroom. Reminiscent of a beach cottage, white wicker is charming and blends well with a variety of colors. With a few additional touches, a room of wicker furniture can be transformed into a Caribbean beach, Hawaiian bungalow or a cozy room on Martha's Vineyard. Whether you have some vintage wicker or some newer pieces, wicker is an easy carefree style that can be used in a variety of forms for years to come.

Color Considerations

White wicker furniture emanates a fresh, crisp and clean look. Since white is such a basic look, you can choose from a variety of colors to complement your furniture. Pastel greens, cool blues, lavender, shades of pink or even sunshine yellow all work with white. For a beach look, opt for blues and yellows to mimic the sea and sun. A great nautical look can be achieved with blue, yellow and red. If you prefer a more tropical or garden setting, try a peaceful soft green or lavender for your walls.

Fabrics

Wicker is not the most comfortable texture to sit on, so add some comfy cushions to the seat of any wicker chairs. Try a bold floral print, earthy green leaves or even blue and white cotton ticking for your room's fabrics. Utilize the same print in the seat cushions, bedspread and perhaps even your curtains. Another way to soften the look of your wicker room is by adding a breezy mosquito net over the bed. These come in a variety of colors such as blue, lavender, pink and white and can be found online at numerous sites.

Accessorizing

To continue a beach theme, bring in nautical or seashell accessories and wall decor. Fill a glass vase with shells or glue pretty shells around a picture frame. Sailboats, lighthouses or coral are excellent decorative items for a nautical theme. Take a basic white lampshade and hot glue rope around the shade or use the same boating rope as tie-backs for your window curtains. Install bead board behind the bed as a headboard or below the chair rail for an added dimension.

Wicker dresser tops or tabletops can be uneven. To solve this dilemma, have a piece of glass cut to the size of the tabletop and cover. This will keep the surface even and still allow the beauty of the wicker to show through.

If you are using the tropical or garden theme, add several vases of bold tropical flowers, a large palm tree in a corner or colorful island artwork to tie your room together. A trellis of silk vines added to a wall will complete the feeling of an outdoor garden, or opt for whitewashed iron architectural pieces.
