What Pieces Are In A Bedroom Suite

Matched pieces of furniture unite the room.

Matching furniture ties the various elements of a room together, which is especially true in a bedroom. Mismatched bedroom furniture creates disharmony in a room where a peaceful environment is important. Create a calming and soothing bedroom by purchasing a matching suite of furniture. Bedroom suites include all of the most important pieces of bedroom furniture.

Bed

The core of all bedroom furniture suites is the bed. Some suites include only a bed frame of the headboard and foot board while others add a frame and mattress as well, which varies based on the furniture store. Measure your bedroom before purchasing a suite with a bed. Some ornate or unusually large bed frames may seem too large and overpowering for cramped bedrooms. The height of the bed is a matter of personal comfort as well; sit or lie on the bed before buying.

Dresser

Some form of clothing storage piece comes with most basic bedroom suites. These furniture options include armoires, dressers, wardrobes and other similar types. Armoires and upright wardrobes that accompany traditional or country style bedroom suites are often large and imposing. However, the built-in shelving and drawers in these pieces offer plenty of storage. Look for a suite that contains a smaller dresser if space is your primary concern.

Nightstand

A bedside nightstand holds a glass of water, a favorite book or a convenient light. This piece of furniture is the third crucial part of most three-piece bedroom suites and comes with five- or seven-piece suites as well. Don't just settle for a nightstand that matches the rest of the furniture. Look at its construction and overall quality as well. Buy a nightstand made from real timber, not press or chip board that is less durable and attractive.

Optional Pieces

Small bedroom suites contain only three basic pieces of furniture, but many furniture retailers offer larger sets of five or seven pieces. Extra furniture common to a bedroom suite includes mirrors, chests, chairs and decorative items. Large bedrooms look empty or uninhabited with only a bed and a nightstand, but seven pieces of matching furniture may be too much for small rooms. Look at the space available and the visual impact of a number of matching pieces before buying your new suite.
