Soundproof A Bedroom Door

Soundproof a Bedroom Door

There is no better way to ruin a good night's sleep or a relaxing book than to have to endure all of the noises coming through your bedroom door from the rest of the house. You can block these noises out by soundproofing your door using some basic materials that stop the sound waves before they can reach your ears. Once you have the materials, which can be found at most hardware stores, you can have the door finished in less than an hour.

Instructions

1. Attach a door sweep on the inside of the bedroom door by trimming it with scissors to fit the bottom edge. Just peel the backing off the adhesive and press the sweep onto the door.

2. Cut a piece of sound-deadening board to fit the size of the inside of the bedroom door. Use a saw to cut the board to size.

3. Lay the cut board on top of the thin lead sheet and trace it with chalk. Cut out the traced shape on the lead with a band saw.

4. Apply a thick layer of heavy-duty construction adhesive to the inside of the door and press the lead sheet into it.

5. Spread more glue onto the lead and place the board over it. Secure the lead and the board to the door using several C-clamps.

6. Take off the clamps when the glue is dried. You can paint the board now if you want.
